What areas do you serve?
We're based in St. Joseph, IL and serve the greater Champaign-Urbana area and surrounding communities — including Mahomet, Savoy, Sidney, Tolono, Philo, Homer, Ogden, Royal, Rantoul, and Danville. If you're not sure whether we come to you, just call or send a note.
How much does a painting project cost?
Every project is different — scope, surface condition, number of rooms, and finish type all affect the price. We don't publish flat rates because a quote without seeing the room isn't worth much to either of us. A walk-through is always free, and you'll have a written number within a week of that visit.
Do you take single-room projects?
Yes. A single room, a single wall, a set of kitchen cabinets — no project is too small. Some of our favorite work has been a single accent wall in lime wash or a foyer that needed one weekend's attention.
Do you do exterior painting?
Yes — exterior painting is one of our primary services. Siding, trim, fascia, soffits, doors, shutters, and garage doors. We prep right (power wash, scrape, caulk, prime) so the finish lasts. See the exterior painting page for details, or call us for a walk-through.
What are specialty finishes, exactly?
Specialty finishes are wall treatments that go beyond standard paint — lime wash, Venetian plaster, mineral paints, glazes, and patinas. They're applied by hand in layers, and the result has a depth and texture that flat latex can't replicate. We bring a sample board to your house before any wall gets touched so you can see the finish in your actual light.
How long does a typical project take?
A single room usually takes one to three days depending on what's being done. A whole house can take one to three weeks. Specialty finishes like Venetian plaster take longer than standard painting because of drying time between coats. We'll give you a realistic schedule when we quote the project — and we stick to it.
Do I need to move my furniture?
We ask that the room be reasonably cleared — art off the walls, small items moved out. We handle the furniture that stays in the room: moving it to the center, covering it, and returning it when we're done. For whole-home projects we'll talk through logistics in the walk-through.
What paint brands do you use?
For standard interior and exterior work: Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams. For specialty finishes: we use Bauwerk, Keim, and custom lime mixes depending on the application. We're happy to work with a specific product if you have a preference — just mention it when we talk.
Do you provide color consultations?
Yes — color consultation is included with every full-room design project, and we're happy to talk through color on painting projects too. We look at your fixed elements (floors, furniture, hardware) and your light conditions before making any recommendations. We'd rather spend twenty minutes on color before the project than hear you second-guess it after.
